Our Origin Story

Alma Learning Lab began with one simple belief: school should work for kids—not the other way around.
As a former teacher and local mom, I saw firsthand how traditional classrooms—even with the best intentions—often left curious, creative kids feeling overwhelmed, unseen, or bored. I knew there had to be a better way.

So, with a few brave families and a big vision, we created Alma: a small, project-based microschool where hands-on learning, emotional growth, and personalized attention are the norm—not the exception.

At Alma, learning is active. Class sizes are small. Kids are known, celebrated, and challenged in all the right ways. We focus on the whole child—balancing strong academics with real-world problem-solving, collaboration, and joy.

We’re still growing, but the heart of our work hasn’t changed: to build a school our kids love showing up to.
